We Are Courageous

Intrapreneurs are courageous. Bono writes about a failure in his book "Surrender." Remember this album from ’97? 🤔

The sound of this album was the sound of a balloon bursting. Pop.
— Bono 🎤

“Pop” was the name of the album, released amongst the era of Seattle grunge from the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. 🎸

Bono writes of the need to keep reinventing the band, to take risks and try new things. How else could they accomplish the decades of success of bands like the Beatles or the Stones?

And with risk comes inevitable failure, and by Bono’s ambitious standards, Pop was a bust. 🎈

Intrapreneurs, you too bring a bit of risk tolerance. You bring courage into your work every day, willing to put yourself out there, to try something new. 💡

You may not be risk *seeking* ⚠️ — you view risk as a natural outcome doing something that you believe in, one that of necessity brings uncertain outcomes. Sure, you bring an adventurous and curious spirit, but you are not trying to make a statement, or prove anything.

You are simply willing to move forward with passion and conviction every day -- a bit like Bono perhaps?!

What will your next step of courage unlock? 🔓

PS: I actually saw the PopMart tour in Columbus Ohio in ‘97 and enjoyed it immensely … ok, perhaps not quite as cool as my brother seeing the breakthrough ZooTV tour in ’92 at Saratoga Springs NY, but it was still a magical evening seeing a courageous, memorable performance!
