Working with an Upshore Team β€” Sharing the Full Picture

We’re kicking off a new series all about working with #UPshore development teams! Our all-star, #Intrapreneurial clients have some fantastic techniques to work well across oceans, timezones and cultures … ✨ πŸ‘‡

First off, what does #Upshore mean?! Well, that represents our little term that we use for our hybrid, social impact delivery model. We started Kiza while living in Africa for over 3+ years.

Inspired by the success of our first engagement with Rwanda Trading Company, we began hiring and training talented local software developers. We now headquartered in the U.S., and continue to have an office of developers based in Rwanda while the team expanded to include developers in Kenya, South Africa and UAE as well. 🌍

But enough about us … let us talk about #InsideInnovators working well with remote software teams. In this first post, we dive into #VisualCommunication and #ProjectManagement tools.

Our Tech Lead Maria highlights a highly effective habit: providing visual aids, examples, and video recordings. When you capture a quick screen recording and place it directly into a tracking tool like #Trello, you save everyone an extra step. πŸ“Ή

Jason adds that tight adoption of #Trello creates massive momentum. When you loop the developer directly into the conversation on the platform, you build valuable rapport and save time.

Heather notes that we model this behavior during our progress calls. We open #Trello, show you exactly how we tag developers, and leave notes in real-time. Highlighting the developer's name on a specific card ensures you know exactly who owns the work and empowers you to contribute directly. 🀝

The Wrap Up: Clear visual examples and centralized #ProjectTracking platforms keep the entire team moving forward efficiently.

Next Up: Stay tuned for our second post, where we explore how the best #Intrapreneurs navigate global time zones and set clear priorities in their #Planning!
